Non penso di aver mai visto un’inchiesta fatta così bene su qualcosa riguardante l’Internet (dato che pure negli USA, e che tutto il mondo è paese…). In particolare, tutto ciò offre uno spaccato su Tumblr meraviglioso, un’analisi fatta da un occhio esterno che però si è “infiltrato” nella community così a fondo da rimanerne affascinato, invischiato.

Me (what I really mean): you fools. I am plugged into the mainframe, wired to the primary source. Of course have seen that meme, and all 5000 of it’s variants, 3 and a half months ago. I have seen the rise and fall of that meme, the boom and bust, the drama, the pain, the shitposting, oh god, the shitposting. I have seen this meme in it’s rawest, freshest, unpasturised, most primal state. Do not insult me with these rank, stale puddles, that sit at the very base of the meme trickle down economy.
Questa cosa qui sopra mi ha fatto cappottare decisamente; chiunque sia su Reddit o su 4chan e infine su Tumblr ha avuto sicuramente una reazione come questa.
Devo ancora finire di leggere l’articolo - penso lo farò stasera; tuttavia, reputo geniale l’impaginazione, il contenuto, e anche tutto il contorno che fa molto spetteguless condomoniale.

Rileggevo alcune dichiarazioni, oggi, relative a fantomatiche lotte tra società plurimiliardarie e tentacoli della legge di nazioni un po’ troppo tranchant nell’approccio alla privacy dei cittadini. Mi è tornato in mente questo articolo meraviglioso da leggere tutto d’un fiato che dimostra soprattutto quanto, se Elon Musk è accostabile alla figura reale di un Tony Stark da fumetto, il personaggio di John McAfee sia di fatto palesemente accostabile a Walter White (protagonista della serie Breaking Bad).
Quello di Atom è un percorso secondo me abbastanza travagliato per un sacco di motivi, primo tra tutti il fatto che comunque Sublime Text per questioni prestazionali senza alcun aggiornamento da parte degli sviluppatori è comunque performante e fluido quanto basta per farlo sentire in difetto.
Quello che tuttavia avevo sempre sottovalutato è quanto l’editor in sé non sia ristretto quanto Sublime anzi: oltre ad essere completamente open, è anche molto “hackable”. Pensavo fosse un payoff, e invece:

Detta in gergo, questa è una figata spaziale, per una serie di motivi, ed il primo è che rende a prova di bomba l’interazione con componenti anche core di Atom.
Devo dire che non mi pento affatto di aver esteso di recente l’uso di Atom a più macchine tra le mie; addirittura penso sempre di più all’adozione totale :-) Ovviamente fatto salvo il buon Vim.
Dal blog di mogui, appena aperto, fresco fresco, uno dei manifesti più belli sul software development che ci siano. Se siete metallari (come noi! Anche se a me piacciono pure i Periphery) lo amerete :-D
If all commits can stand on their own, i.e. all tests pass after each individual commit, then the commits are atomic and do not need to be squashed. I’d even say they probably shouldn’t be squashed.
Oggi mi hanno chiesto di fare squash di un po’ di commit. Devo dire che sebbene la richiesta fosse legittima, mi sono ritrovato ad essere molto scocciato da questo, e solo dopo aver letto questo articolo ho capito che in realtà mi sentivo come se mi avessero chiesto di nascondere un cadavere semplicemente perché quello che da altri era ritenuto un cadavere, in realtà era pura prassi e workflow.
E allora, dato che sul progetto non sono stati definiti dei criteri per quei commit “incriminati”, e dato che comunque sono commit consistenti, direi comunque che “they probably shouldn’t be squashed”.
